West Africa Tour (Ghana, Togo & Benin)

DAY 1: 7th

Arrive in Accra, Ghana. Transfer from the airport to your hotel. Check-in and relax.

Coconut Grove Regency Hotel – 1 Night
The Hotel is located in close proximity to the business district of Accra. Regency has 10 Suites and 26
Standard rooms are all tastefully decorated with air conditioning, multi-channel satellite TV, hot and cold
water points, Wi-Fi, and a minibar. Our conference complex has 8 halls with varying seating capacities of
between 5 to 320 guests. Business centres and forex bureaus are available for guests’ use. A child friendly
The swimming pool is set in an open, airy and stimulating environment capable of seating 500 persons for
any outdoor event such as wedding receptions, and birthday and anniversary celebrations.

DAY 2: 8th

Accra City Tour – Elmina
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and make your way back to Accra for a brief City Tour. You will
drive through the administrative and economic districts of Accra, the capital of Ghana. This 137-year old
city has a blend of colonial and modern architecture that summarize her history. You will visit the W. E.
B. Dubois Centre for Pan African Culture, Independence / Black Star Square and Kwame Nkrumah
Memorial Park. End your tour at the Arts Centre where you will have an opportunity to use your
bargaining skills to shop from an open-air market for artefacts from Ghana and West Africa. Afterwards,
drive to Cape Coast / Elmina, the central region.

Coconut Grove Beach Resort – 2 Nights
Coconut Grove Beach Resort has become an important landmark in Elmina. All rooms are air-conditioned,
with hot and cold water, a minibar, satellite multi-channel TV reception, and a Wi-Fi connection. The
popular Ocean View Restaurant has an enviable reputation for the best seafood served fresh in the
region. Coconut Grove Beach Resort is the only hotel in Elmina that has access to a clean and safe beach.

Day 3: 9th

Kakum National Park – Cape Coast Castle
Early morning after breakfast, depart for a drive through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum
National Park, is one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rainforests. Extending over 360sq km, Kakum is
the home to over 40 large mammals and 400 bird species as well as many species of butterflies, flora
and fauna. The most popular attraction is the Canopy walkway which is made up of seven bridges
extending 330m, hanging 100 feet above the forest floor. Choose between a 2-km nature walk through
this forest to discover the wide variety of exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer or take
a walk on the canopy walkway.

Continue to embark on a tour of the infamous Forts, Castles and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will
unfold the story of the slave trade and the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Visit
the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1653 and was later taken over by the British. This castle
also houses the West African Historical Museum established by the Smithsonian Institute in collaboration
with the Ghanaian Government in 1994. (Overnight at Coconut Grove Beach Resort)

DAY 4: 10th

Cape Coast – Kumasi City Tour
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive through the forest zone to Kumasi, the seat of the
Ashanti Empire to explore the legends of the famous Ashanti people, whose legacies are still evident
Visit Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain firsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom. A
regal history that dates back to 1700 is told with relics and artefacts. Enjoy a drive through the city with
monuments dedicated to the memory of the great Ashanti people. Your city tour on this day will also
include a visit to the famous Kejetia market. End the day’s tour at the National Cultural Centre which
features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of the brass makers, potters and batik
makers. Check-in at the hotel afterwards.

Noda Hotel – 1 Night
Noda Hotel is situated at Fumesua-Kumasi – Ghana, West Africa. It has a serene and secluded
environment which is ideal for leisure and business travellers. This unique atmosphere around Noda
makes it a cut above the other hotels in Kumasi.

DAY 5: 11th
Ashanti Craft Villages – Accra
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart to visit the three famous Ashanti craft villages:
Ahwiaa, the wood carvers’ village; Ntonso, the home of Adinkra cloth; and Bonwire, the Kente weaving
village. You will have an opportunity to see how African crafts are made and to buy directly from the
artisans who make them. Afterwards, depart Kumasi for a scenic drive through the forest region of
Ashanti and Eastern region to Accra. (Overnight at Coconut Grove Regency)

DAY 6: 12th
Accra – Lome, Togo Tour
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart Accra to Lome, Togo. Check in at the hotel and have lunch at
a local restaurant. Later in the afternoon depart for a city tour of Lome. Visit Grand Marche, Marche des
Feticheurs, Musee National, as well as the Place de I’ Independence.

Onomo Hotel Lome – 1 Night
The hotel is located 15 minutes from the airport, 3 minutes from the city centre and a few tens of meters
from the sea. All 123 rooms offer a flat-screen TV, satellite channels, laptop safe, work area, individual
air conditioning, walk-in shower, separate toilet and balcony. The hotel’s restaurant and bar are open
24/24 and 7/7, the “ONOMOtaste” cuisine makes the most of the gourmet flavours of Africa and the
world; it favours the fresh products of the market. Hotel ONOMO Lomé also provides guests with a shuttle
with free Wi-Fi access to the international airport, just 15 minutes from the hotel.

DAY 7: 13th
Lome – Ouidah, Benin Tour
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart for a visit to Ouidah, the cradle of African Traditional
Religion, en-route to Cotonou, Benin. Tour the temple dedicated to the sacred Python, which is believed
to give vitality and protection; you will also pay a visit to the sacred forest which houses many shrines
dedicated to various deities. Visit the historical Museum of Ouidah located in an old Portuguese fort built-in 1721. This Museum portrays Benin’s role in the Atlantic Slave Trade. Later, visit the Port of No Return;
a monument built by the Benin Government to commemorate the Africans that were taken from the
Dahomey Empire during the Slave Trade. Continue the journey northwards to Cotonou

DAY 8 Wed 14th
Cotonou – Ganvie
After breakfast, depart your hotel at 8:00 am, to make a sensational visit to Ganvie (the village on water),
commonly referred to as the Venice of West Africa. Witness first-hand, the people of Ganvie carrying out
their daily routine as vendors in dugout canoes piled high with wares, transacting commerce with one
another and with tourists. You will enjoy shopping on the floating market and taking a relaxing canoe
ride on the waterways of this exotic 300-year-old village. After lunch, drive through the multicoloured
centre of the administrative and commercial capital of Benin to view its many statues and monuments.

DAY 9: 15th

Cotonou – Accra
After breakfast, depart Lome at 10:00 am, for Accra. Stopover at a local Restaurant at 1:00 pm for lunch
on your own then continues to Accra. Arrive and in the evening transfer to airport for check-in and final
departure back home.
